Dear NAHREP Houston Members,

Clearly, 2009 was a game changing year for many in the real estate business.  We all felt the blow of the mortgage crisis as well as the effects of the overall global economic recession.  But, fortunately we are in Houston where the impacts of the changing real estate industry were far less than in some other parts of the country.

As we move into 2010 one thing is clear, consumers will demand more from real estate professionals.  They will also require more knowledge to help them make more informed decisions when it comes to purchasing a home.  This is where NAHREP comes into play.  Our common goal is to make sure we are creating sustainable homeownership opportunities for individuals throughout the Houston area.  NAHREP Houston will help in the following ways:

·    We will continue to focus our efforts on training and educating our real estate professionals on vital issues related to the real estate business.  This will be done through luncheons, networking events and educational seminars.

·    We will continue to build on a solid platform built at a national level.  One of our major goals in 2010 will be to build a stronger and larger membership base that will ultimately benefit Greater Houston area consumers.

·    We will collaborate with other organizations that have the same mission and goals of creating sustainable homeownership opportunities in Houston.

·    And last but not least, Houston is a very resilient city and will no doubt recover from what was one of the most difficult years in the real estate business.  Our home values will recover sooner than later.  We will begin to see new home starts take place at a faster pace than any other part of the country.  Like I’ve said before, if you are going to be in the Real Estate business, Houston is where you want to be.

I truly look forward to working with all of our members and I look forward to making a difference in the lives of many throughout the Houston area.

Sincerely,

Cecilia Hernandez
2010 NAHREP Houston President

Mission Statement

To increase sustainable home ownership by empowering the Hispanic community through education and guidance by real estate practitioners.

 Nuestra Misión

Incrementar el dominio de la propiedad raíz entre la comunidad hispana a través de la educación y guía de los profesionales inmobiliarios.

Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S., according to the Census Bureau; and the Hispanic population is projected to triple by 2050. Interestingly, overall the Hispanic market profiles as a much younger segment than the national average. For example, by the year 2010, almost 18 million Hispanics will fall in the 25 to 44 age group. As a result, this segment will triple their consumer spending and buying power presenting a marked opportunity for future homebuyers.

It is the mission of NAHREP, its board and members, to focus on successfully reaching out to the Hispanic consumer to inform and educate these shoppers about the latest information on financial resources, news and consumer tools to effectively help them attain the American dream of home ownership.

NAHREP members are offered the most up to date training and the access to the latest in trends and tools to help each one of them succeed in their chosen area of the real estate industry. Real estate professionals play a critical role in the home-buying process, and their contribution is even more significant in the Latino market. NAHREP has continued to grow locally in its membership and as a result, presents a powerful presence within legislation to shape future issues. Your involvement within our organization opens the door to education, certification and training opportunities that will provide you with an invaluable experience in networking and the ability to exchange ideas.

NAHREP-Houston members represent those who are committed to the highest standards of professionalism and ethical business standards.
